Purpose: Altar Servers assist the Presider and Deacon at Sunday Liturgies, and all significant Feast days and other special Liturgical Functions.
Logistics: Girls and Boys of the Parish who have received First Communion are eligible to serve. The servers are recruited and trained by the Deacon & Priest. Interested youth can volunteer by contacting the Deacon, Priest or one of their Catechists. The servers are required to attend two practices a year .
Purpose: Altar Society is responsible for the cleaning of the Church.
Logistics: Members gather twice a month on Saturday mornings.
Purpose: Bereavement Ministry provides support to the family members of the deceased. The group assists with the planning of the Funeral Liturgy, attend the Liturgy, assist with the repast meal, and sends cards of condolence to family members.
Logistics: The Bereavement Ministry plan and conduct training for new members. Volunteers are recruited through the Church Bulletin. The group meets the 5th Sunday of any month at 10:30a.m. in the Church.
Traditional Choir
Purpose: Traditional Choir provides musical enhancement to the 9:00a.m. Sunday Liturgies as requested. The Choir also assists with the Black Saints Celebrations.
Logistics: Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the Church. To be a member, one must be a parishioner of St. Benedict the Moor Parish, and love music. To inquire see the Director or any choir member .
Gospel Choir
Purpose: Gospel Choir provides musical enhancement to the Sunday Noon Liturgy and Liturgical Celebrations as requested. The Gospel Choir has an evangelization outreach to other parishes on occasional Saturday evenings. The Choir also provides scholarships to parish youth.
Logistics: Rehearsals are scheduled on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. Members are recruited annually through the Church Bulletin. Interested persons, who love Gospel music, can contact the Director or a choir member at any time.
